Fabrication utilized SAW (tandem arc), GTAW, FCAW Welding processes. We also used Semi-automated circle SAW machine on the larger nozzles. The hyper-fill welding process was used structural attachments and supports. A semi-automated oxy-fuel machine was used to burn and bevel the nozzle holes with a single cut. Induction heating equipment was used for pre-heat and post heating the heavy wall carbon steel material. custom bevel geometry/narrow groove
Equipment on this project included certified weight reports, Lloyd’s Register requirements, and an environmental action ocean transportation analysis. We designed custom distributor piping and baffles for removeable construction and to withstand PWHT and hydro testing. There was a 72” diameter nozzle, custom gaskets and bolting, 10.5” thick HB forgings, appendix 2.2 custom flanges, intricate internals that include an inlet vane pack, vapor sparger, large demister, inlet baffle, level instrument baffle, dip pipes, removable stack and internal weir plates. Fireproofing and Xylan blue coated bolting were included on some of the equipment. Inspection included RT, UT, WFMT, and a NACE Level 3 3-coat paint system was applied.
