Thermal oxidizers are process units typically used to destroy hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from industrial air streams. The pollutants are generally hydrocarbon-based and then destroyed via thermal combustion. Boardman's thermal oxidizers are the most energy efficient and cost efficient solutions for the reduction of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and odorous air emission.
Thermal Oxidizer Types:
Direct-Fired Thermal Oxidizer - the most basic type of thermal oxidizer (aka afterburner)
Recuperative Thermal Oxidizer - incorporate a heat exchanger with a com-bustion chamber and can handle a wide range of process flow rates and VOC concentrations
Catalytic Thermal Oxidizer - by using a catalyst bed in the air treatment equipment, oxidation is accomplished at much lower temperatures compared to thermal oxidation
Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer - type of thermal oxidizer that uses a bed of ceramic material to absorb heat from the exhaust gas
